Victorian Ostby Barton Opal Five Stone Ring
in 10k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A delicate, Victorian-era, five-stone ring, modeled in 10k rosy yellow gold, whose five natural opal cabochons are held in six-prong settings. These oval cabochons are translucent, with soft blue body tone— they display pink, blue, and green fire, in broad and ribboning patterns. The ring's slender half round shank tapers toward the base. We love the soft, ethereal aesthetic of the opals here, contrasted with the ring's many claw-like prongs! This ring is marked 10k OB and with a Maltese cross (Engelhart Ostby's personal maker's mark). Condition is excellent.
Englehart Osby was lost when the Titanic sank in 1912. His daughter Helene was among the survivors.
