Organic Modern Fiery Crystal Opal Cladonia Ring in 18k Gold

Fiery and changeable, a colorful crystal opal sits, nested, inside a thick-walled, organic bezel, which tapers seamlessly into our ring's integral shank. This elongated oval cabochon is rich with flashes of green, red, yellow, and violet, that present in a brush-stroke pattern, emerging from its translucent, blue-white base and changing as the gem shifts in light. This low-profile ring is modern and organic— its graceful shape is reminiscent of the beautiful pixie cup lichens (Cladonia asahinae). Metal is 18k yellow gold; it is delicately brushed. This ring has a serene presence, and (like all good opals) it feels somewhat mystical.
This was entirely handcrafted in Portland, OR, by collaborating, independent craftspeople and designers. Even the opal gem was sourced from a local estate and re-cabbed by a local lapidarist.
