This bracelet closes with a weighty barrel clasp, which is studded and decorated with wirework. It would almost certainly have been given as a gift to ones sweetheart.

This bracelet has been carefully XRF tested: the clasp is 18k gold; the heart locket is 20k gold; the majority of the bracelet (its floral links and connecting rings) is 22k gold.
