Dainty Vintage 1940s Whistle Charm in 14k Gold

A dainty, mid 20th century charm, modeled in 14k yellow gold, as functioning whistle. This miniature whistle is beautifully and substantially made, in the classic shape, with a round body and a long, flat pipe. It makes a soft, high-pitched sound when you blow it. This makes a gentle visual statement, worn alone on a slender chain; it would also be a fine addition to a thoughtfully-composed collection of charms.

At some point I logged the phrase "whistle louder" in my memory, as something you tell yourself when you're afraid, or alone in the dark. Now this is the connection I make with the idea of a whistle— something small persisting in the darkness. Charms are lovable because of this symbolic potential, and for the meanings we bestow upon them, which are sometimes unexpected, and deeply personal. This whistle is marked 14k for purity.
