Victorian OMC Diamond Cluster Ring
French, in 18k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A Victorian era cluster ring, modeled in 18k yellow gold, whose two carats of old cut diamonds are arranged to suggest a flower. The petals of this flower are twelve old mine cut diamonds that vary significantly in size and shape, giving the flower a wonderful, naturalistic quality— upon close inspection, each diamond is fascinating, and the variousness here could almost be a history of the old mine cut diamond! These petal diamonds are white, eye-clean, and well-matched for color; they are held in modified prongs, and arranged around the ring's larger central diamond. This primary old mine cut diamond (approx .87 carats) is held aloft, in eight prongs— it has a small table, steep crown facets, and a large, open culet. All of these stones flash beautifully in light, and are great rainbow-makers. The ring has leaf-point, cathedral shoulders, and a substantial, tapering shank. It is marked with the French eagle's head, for 18k gold purity, and with a partially obscured maker's cartouche. This would make an outstanding, unique engagement ring!
