A big, opulent, late-Georgian locket, modeled in 18k yellow gold, whose front and back sides are decorated with highly-detailed floral motifs. On the front face, a lush, hand-tied bouquet of berries, foliage, and blossoms, surrounded by a slim, repoussé border that hugs the locket's edge. Three of the blossoms in this hand-tied posey are gem-set, their centers represented by a round, faceted, old cut ruby, an oval, faceted, old cut emerald, and a sky-blue turquoise cabochon. On the locket's reverse, a single cabbage rose, set with a faceted ruby, is surrounded by an ornate floral border. The locket's floral decor is worked in three colors (rose, yellow, and green gold); the field beneath these decorative elements has a fine, hand-stippled texture. The locket hangs from an oversized bail that resembles a curled feather (this would have been worn on a large chain, or a wide ribbon).
A single glazed cover fits inside this locket. We removed this glass cover for cleaning. It is a permanent-style glass that should only be removed and replaced by a jeweler. We can ship the locket with the cover fitted inside, or packaged separately. We can also arrange to place your memento inside the locket, before re-fitting the glass. Please leave us a note at checkout, or send a message to discuss.
