This striking modernist pendant features an extra-large, raspberry-colored tourmaline slice. This rare specimen is set in a "trapped" manner, using the series of bars that make-up the body of the pendant to frame and hold the slice captive. These bars alternate between thick and slender widths across the width of the pendant, where their lines remain continuous (bisecting the face of the gem), or are cut away (revealing it). This variety of multi-color tourmaline is commonly called watermelon tourmaline, because the slice is edged with slender bands of yellow and green that, taken with the vivid pink-red center, resemble the rind of a watermelon. We love the raw edge and organic shape of this gem, contrasted with the rigid, polished, linear form of the pendant!

This is a marvel of construction, and it makes a bold, graphic statement in wear. We've paired this pendant with a vintage 14k gold neck-wire (included)— this wire matches and supports the pendant beautifully. The pendant is signed by the design house H Stern, and it is marked 750 for purity.
