A very cool pair of drop earrings, modeled in 18k yellow gold, whose "gems" are a pair of reverse-carved, high-dome crystals. These wonderful miniatures have been finely hand-carved and painted with the realistic likenesses of two pigs— one pink with black spots (a Gloucestershire Old Spots), one black with a white swath across its shoulders (a British Saddleback). Each of these sweet piggies stands on a patch of grass, beside a stream. The decorated crystals sit atop slim, mother-of-pearl backings, and they are held in smooth, low-profile, closed-back bezels. Each of our pig pastorals hangs below a chunky, five pointed star. The reverse carved crystals were painted for the well-known British jeweler Deacon & Francis— one bears a full series of English hallmarks. We made the starry, shepherd's hook earwires for these animal friends, and we love the whimsical character they impart! Pigs have long symbolized good fortune and prosperity— these two are beautiful, noble, and (no-doubt) extra-lucky!
