A soulful pair of contemporary drop earrings, hand-fabricated in 18k & 22k gold by the art jeweler Carolyn Morris Bach ( Rhode Island). The earrings feature a pair of barrel-shaped, bi-color, green tourmaline cabochons that transition from soft (pastel) sea-glass green to bright apple green. These gems are beautifully figured with dark, floating striations, and subtle, glistening, schiller-like bodies— they are held in a notched bezels, that rest at the center of the earrings' rectangular frames. The frames are textural and naturalistic, resembling twigs that have been laid together and bound, here and there, with wire. Earwires are elongated shepherd's hooks that catch at the base of the earrings' closed back bezels. These earrings are signed with an engraving pen: "Carolyn Morris Bach, 2004, 18k, 22k."
This artist is known for her loyalty to traditional hand tools. Each of her pieces is made entirely by hand, and without the aid of "power." Her adherence to this philosophy means that each object retains textures and work-marks that give them a truly human touch.
