1960s Miniature Enamel Chick in Egg Charm
in 18k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A wonderful, miniature, mid-twentieth-century charm, modeled in 18k yellow gold, that takes the form of an egg, with a small, realistic chick inside! Our chickie peeks out from a scalloped opening in the side of the egg (shadow-box style); he is enameled in bight yellow, with a swath of reddish-orange on his beak, and a spot of black for his eye. The chick is cast in place, and is very secure. The egg's exterior is finished with a fine, sparkling, Florentine texture.
This charm is a little miracle of construction— there are so many details and textures at work in this tiny 3-dimensional object! We especially love the graceful scallops of our friend's window to the world. Marked K18 on the jump ring; obscured Italian hallmarks on bail.
