An exceptional, Victorian-era Scottish “pebble” bracelet, fabricated in 12k yellow gold by the important Scottish jewelers Marshall and Sons, of Eidenburgh. This bracelet is set with beautifully-figured agate, jasper, and quartz specimens, which are set in full bezels and linked together. These specimens include a pair of faceted amethyst cylinders (one with phantoms), a pair of faceted smoky quartz cylinders (with crystalline phantoms), two varieties of faceted leopard/lace jasper cylinders, and a pair of milky banded agate cylinders.
The pairs of faceted cylinders alternate with the bracelet's larger stations, which are square, with beveled edges. These square specimens include a striped, lace-type agate with lavender/russet coloring, a vibrant, blood-red agate, a very translucent lace-type agate with "spotted" red figuring, a white and russet agate with bullseye figuring, and a translucent agate with russet and white color banding. These gems are set in smooth, gold bezels. The gold work is clean, precise, and minimal. The box-style clasp hides beneath one of the square, beveled agates.
This is the nicest and most elegant Scottish agate bracelet we have ever come across! The specimens are unusual and especially fine, and it is rare to find matched pairs of gemstones, in a bracelet like this. This bracelet is still with its original fitted box. Condition is outstanding.
