An antique signet ring, modeled in 14k yellow gold, whose octagonal face features an intaglio-carved, raised, heraldic hand, holding a dagger. This muscular hand is unusual for the prominent keyhole placed on the inside of its wrist! Below the hand, a curling banner bears the motto "pax et copia." This ring is the classic signet shape, with a low profile, and broad, tapering shoulders, which are decorated with shell-like, ribbed decor. A deep, reddish-brown patina sets-off the fine details of the intaglio carving and adds dimension to the ring's face and shoulders. Pax et Copia translates as "Peace and Abundance."
This ring looks very fresh and clean in hand. Our photos (which are taken in natural light, using a macro lens) exaggerate the tiny nicks that make an antique ring appear softly worn and buttery in person.
