This rare, hand-cut diamond has a charming, slightly-irregular "square-round" shape, steep crown facets, and a small table. Looking through the diamond's table, the open culet and faceting-pattern create a subtle impression of flower petals, spread out around the culet. The diamond is mounted in a crown-like basket, where it is held in place by four tab-style prongs. The basket is decoratively pierced with a pattern of curls. This antique setting is lightweight and airy the ring shank is very slender at the cathedral shoulder, so that the large diamond appears to "float" on the wearer's hand. It widens toward the base. We think this chunky antique diamond is genuinely adorable, and it is one of the best rainbow makers we have ever seen!

This diamond is older than its classic, whisper-weight, 1930s setting, but the setting has only been with this diamond . . . it was a family heirloom, passed down to a bride that was married in the 1930s. This ring ships with a full appraisal, written by a GIA graduate gemologist.
