Poor Mouchette | Curated Antique Jewelry, Vintage Jewelry & Engagement Rings | Portland, Oregon | A mid twentieth century charm, modeled in 14k yellow gold, whose primary element is a large carnelian cabochon, carved with the face of the man-in-the-moon. This red moon-face is beautifully carved— it wears a cheeky smile, and winks with its left eye. The carnelian's color transitions from rich orangy-red at the top of the cabochon, to a slightly softer golden red at the bottom of the moon's face.

It hangs from an oval jump ring. We love this vintage charm for its large size, and fine carving! We also love the use of carnelian, here, making this specifically a blood moon, or red moon (a hunter's moon, or a harvest moon, coinciding with a lunar eclipse)!
